Elio and Joel extend their bottom time by becoming PADI Enriched Air Divers!
Having completed their PADI Advanced open water courses previously, Joel and Elio were looking to further their dive knowledge. They came to us at Manta Diving Lanzarote looking at what speciality diving courses they could do. Deciding on the PADI Enriched Air Diver course to begin with, they were given their manuals to begin reading and a bit of homework!
Friday morning, Joel and Elio were in bright and early ready to dive into the water. Firstly watching a video explaining what they had read and reviewing the questions from the book. Next up was a quick exam which they both aced! Then it was time to head down to Playa Chica for our enriched air dives!
Setting up the equipment Joel and Elio took it in turns to analyse the oxygen content in their tanks. Then using their computers to see their maximum depth for that percentage. Jumping in the water we were swimming to the Blue Hole. Comparing along the way the increased no decompression times between the enriched air tanks and standard air tanks. Spotting groupers hiding under the ledges as we swam through the Blue Hole and barracudas up above hunting through the shoals of smaller fish!
After a great dive, surface interval time at the dive centre an impromptu pull up competition occurring between Joel, Elio and Abi! Time for the second dive soon arriving and so again analysing the tanks to check the oxygen content and resetting the computers to the correct blend.
Making our way back to Playa Chica and this time heading down to the Little Wreck. Exploring the reef all the way along to the Red Coral with plenty to see along the way. Including nudibranchs, more groupers and tuna.
