What to expect on your PADI Discover Scuba Dive?

Your PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience!

You will never forget your first breath underwater!

The PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience is designed for people who want to try something new, with no prior experience of scuba diving. Come join us to experience what breathing underwater and blowing bubbles is all about!

Arriving at the dive centre, we start by filling in the PADI Discover Scuba Diving brochure, a quick medical to check that you are fit and healthy, then a short quiz to test your diving knowledge! Don't worry our PADI instructors guide you through it!

After the paperwork is complete, we put on the wetsuits and have a full briefing where your instructor explains to you everything you need to know about scuba diving including how to communicate with hand signals as we can't talk underwater and the dive that you are about to go on!

Heading down to the beach, putting on the diving equipment we walk into the water. Practicing the breathing in waist deep water until you are comfortable. Breath away and look at your feet, you will find fish surrounding them! Once you are happy we will start the dive. Dropping down under water is the best feeling ever! Your instructor will show you 3 skills and then get you to practice them, they may come in useful on the dive.

Then the fun part begins...the dive! Slowly swimming with your instructor down to a maximum depth of 6 metres. You will be swimming forwards while your instructor swims backwards. Exploring the bay and seeing what fish we can find, they will come up and have a look at you! During the dive you can expect to see wide eyed flounders, parrotfish, cow bream, canarian damselfish, atlantic damselfish, ornate wrasse and maybe even an arrowhead crab! During the dive have a good look around. Don't forget to look up, you can find the cow bream playing with your bubbles!

What's next?

The PADI Discover Scuba Dive can be credited towards your PADI Open Water Course. If you come back to Manta Diving Lanzarote to complete your PADI open water course within 12 months we will deduct the entire cost of your discover scuba diving experience from your course package! Once you are a PADI Open water diver you can dive to 18 metres with another certified diver. The course will also be a little quicker as the PADI Discover scuba dive counts as the first dive of the PADI Open Water Course.
