Hello, I’m George! I am a PADI IDC Staff Instructor. I first became a PADI professional over 18 years ago. It doesn’t matter where I am diving as long as I’m underwater wet and blowing bubbles I’m happy! Teaching beginners is one of my favourite things to do when diving. I want them to experience the beauty of the underwater realm for themselves!
Most of my dives were in Scotland, there were a lot of wrecks to explore! Also I’ve been to Mexico diving several times. The Cenotes are stunning! I decided to settle here in Lanzarote, I have been living for some years now. Enjoying the year round sunshine and exceptional diving.
One of my favourite things to do underwater is to dive on the wrecks. You can discover so much history in wrecks and to float motionless next to a huge vessel is just mind-blowing. I’ve even been lucky enough to be involved in discovering a new wreck and help identify it!
Favourite Dive Site:
Museo Atlantico – underwater museum in Playa Blanca! I’ve been involved in diving Jason deCaires Taylor’s underwater museum atlantico since the beginning when it opened in 2016. I enjoy diving it and marvel at the changes in colour, growth and marine life. There’s just so much to see in just 1 dive!
Most Memorable Dive:
Wow! That’s a hard question there’s just so many to choose from! One of the recent ones is when I was diving off Playa Blanca alongside an inquisitive turtle. Everything came out on that dive, turtle, angel shark, moray eels, rays and trumpetfish! That has to be there! Such an awesome dive!
Favourite Excursion in Lanzarote:
For me it has be the off road buggies. It’s a great way to let off steam and get off the beaten track and explore this great island.
Since moving to Lanzarote, Rachel (the boss!) talked me into trying a half marathon. After completing it I was hooked! I now try to run twice a week and have completed in many races – including 2 full marathons! I also enjoy my Spanish lessons each week where I am making steady but slow progress!
