Rachel PADI instructor at the underwater museum in Playa Blanca

Hi, I’m Rachel! I am a PADI IDC Staff Instructor. I learnt to dive at only 13 years old while on holiday with my dad. At 18 I became a PADI professional guiding divers, teaching others to scuba dive and fall in love with the underwater world just like I did. A career in scuba diving took me all over the world, venturing as far as the Seychelles! ¬†Arriving in Lanzarote I realised that this was my home from home. Great scuba diving, wonderful people and a fantastic place to live! When I was 22 Ben and I made the decision to buy Manta Diving Lanzarote and we have never looked back since!

Underwater Passion:

One of my biggest passions is underwater photography and teaching others all about it! I can spend hours talking about it, then even longer processing all the images afterwards!! At the moment I’m playing more with videography. Keep an eye on our Youtube channel!

Favourite Dive Site:

Waikiki – I love the orange coral hiding in the reef, it’s fantastic for photography! Getting the right angle and getting the orange contrasting against the blue background is simply stunning!

Most Memorable Dive:

That’s a hard decision as I’ve been on so many incredible dives. One of my favourites is when I was diving the Harbour Wrecks and we decided to go and explore the other side to the reef. Waiting for us were 9 different rays all swimming together! Huge common atlantic stingrays and tiny eagle rays all together!

Favourite excursion do in Lanzarote

Other than scuba diving! I love Cueva de los Verdes. This is a tour through an underground lava tunnel. There are so many cool angles and lighting for taking photos.

Other interests

I love to run! Trail running is my favourite. Each year in June they hold the Wine Run. During this run you run through the bodegas (vineyards) in La Geria. The landscape is simply breathtaking! The running is hard as there are lots of hills and a lot of the time you are running on pecan but it is totally worth it!
