What to include in a Save a Dive Kit
You are packing for a day’s diving, you’ve got all the standard kit ready but what about a save a dive kit?

It’s something you may not have thought about including before but we would definitely recommend putting one together and taking it along every time you go diving. That way you in the unlikely event you encounter a problem you can save it swiftly on the spot! Here at Manta Diving we keep a save a dive kit in each of our dive vans. So what do you include in it?
Essential Spares to include in your Save A Dive Kit:
- Mask strap – or even a spare mask
- Fin strap and buckle
- O-rings
- O-ring grease
- Mouth piece
- Cable Ties
- Nail clippers or scissors to cut the cable ties
- Set of allen keys
- Tank inserts
Extras that you may want to include:
- Defog – why not make your own? Grab an old spray bottle, give it a good wash out and mix a little baby shampoo with water and you’ve got home made defog! Alternatively if you don’t have a spare spray bottle lying around you can pop some toothpaste in. Make sure its a white paste rather than a gel.
- Batteries – for your dive computer/torch/strobe/camera
- Clips or carabineers
- Copy of your dive insurance (a handy tip is to print your insurance details – policy number, emergency contact number, and laminate it)
- First Aid Kit
- Motion sickness pills
- Wrist and neck seals if your dry suit has the Si-Tech system
Now you’ve got it all together, where do you store it? In a sealed dry box. We find the essentials fit perfectly in a mask box!
